on Neebish Island!

Neebish Island is approximately seven miles long and three miles wide. It lies in the middle of the St.Mary's River. The lake freighters that can be seen passing come from Lake Superior carrying iron ore to steel mills in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. The ocean freighters are carrying grain to foreign countries and will pass through the St. Lawrence Seaway. We have a large population of deer and you may see them early in the morning or late dusk. You may see other animals such as mink, squirrel, fox, turkey, bear, beaver, duck, geese, sea gulls, eagles, hummingbirds, and all other Michigan birds are always in the air and on the water. Fishing the St. Mary's River on the Munoscong Bay will bring walleye, bass, pike, perch, salmon and muskie. We have a peaceful relaxing atmosphere and watching the passing lake and ocean freighters may be all you desire to do. We have outstanding sunsets and if you are lucky you might even see the Northern Lights.
